Savencia Expands Brazilian Presence with Quatá Alimentos Acquisition
Savencia Fromage & Dairy, a prominent French dairy and cheese company, has signed a purchase agreement to acquire Quatá Alimentos, a well-known Brazilian dairy producer. This acquisition is a strategic move by Savencia to enhance its presence in the Brazilian market, where it already operates through brands like Polenghi, Frescatino, and Campo Limpo.
The acquisition will allow Savencia to incorporate Quatá’s established cheese and dairy products, including popular brands such as Glória and Quatá. These products hold strong consumer recognition across major Brazilian regions like São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Rio de Janeiro.
Quatá Alimentos has a long-standing reputation for quality in cheese production, sourcing milk regionally and distributing products nationwide. This move aligns with Savencia's strategy to deepen its roots in Brazil's dairy sector, leveraging the local popularity of Quatá’s offerings.
The transaction is subject to approval by Brazil’s Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Econômica (CADE) and other regulatory bodies. Until the acquisition is finalized, Savencia and Quatá Alimentos will continue to operate as separate entities, ensuring business continuity for their customers and partners.
Industry analysts view this acquisition as part of a broader trend of consolidation in the global dairy industry, with major players expanding their portfolios to capitalize on growing demand for cheese and value-added dairy products in emerging markets like Brazil.
