Santa Clara Will Open Its First Ciudad Juárez Store
Santa Clara, the Mexican premium dairy brand, is preparing its first outlet in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. The store will operate inside Plaza Sendero Juárez, where work to adapt the premises is under way. The brand has not yet specified the date of the formal opening.
Santa Clara is the dairy and beverages division of the Coca-Cola System. The Ciudad Juárez location will join the company’s national network of cafés and retail outlets. Its planned range includes ultra-pasteurised fluid milk, lactose-free and flavoured varieties, drinkable and stirred yoghurt, cream, traditional ice cream, and fresh and matured cheeses.
The outlet will require refrigerated handling for its dairy products and frozen storage for ice cream. The source describes operating requirements of about 4°C for fresh dairy items and below -18°C for frozen products. It also notes that transport from manufacturing sites will have to maintain temperature control in a region where summer temperatures can exceed 38°C.
Santa Clara’s milk range includes products processed through continuous pasteurisation and ultra-pasteurisation. The source states that ultra-pasteurisation takes place at temperatures above 138°C. The shop’s format is expected to combine ice-cream sales, café service and retail sales of cheeses by portion.
Ciudad Juárez is a border city whose consumers can also access dairy products from US supermarket chains in El Paso, Texas, as well as established Mexican industrial brands. The new shop will therefore place Santa Clara’s products in a market that includes both Mexican and US retail offerings.
The source also links the premium dairy range to demand for raw milk with specified quality characteristics, including low bacterial counts, the absence of antibiotics and low somatic-cell counts. It describes Chihuahua as a state with a longstanding livestock sector and identifies the development of additional urban sales channels as a feature of the company’s expansion into the northern border region.
