Samara Oblast Imposes Quarantine for Leptospirosis on Farm

The outbreak was discovered on a livestock farm in Novokuybyshevsk. An order from the regional veterinary committee, published on the Samara Oblast government website, declared the area within a 1 km radius of the epizootic outbreak as unfavorable for cattle leptospirosis.

The quarantine zone is located within the administrative boundaries of the Mayak settlement, part of the Novokuybyshevsk urban district. The regime applies to the area surrounding the infection site and is effective in relation to the identified adverse location.

During the quarantine, unauthorized individuals are prohibited from entering the epizootic outbreak area. The import and export of susceptible animals are restricted, as well as the harvesting and dispatch of feed and equipment that have come into contact with infected animals.

In the adverse area, fairs, exhibitions, and other events involving the movement of susceptible animals are prohibited. The published order specifically outlines the boundaries of the area subject to veterinary restrictions.

The quarantine will be lifted after the death or recovery of the last sick animal. Leptospirosis is an acute infectious disease common to both humans and animals, affecting the capillaries, liver, kidneys, and muscles, and is accompanied by fever. It occurs in all countries.
