The project has not yet received final approval. Royal A-ware emphasized that submitting the application does not guarantee that the plant will be built. A decision will be made after obtaining construction documentation and completing further economic feasibility assessments.

The company has not set timelines for the project. The site is located in the central part of the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. According to Royal A-ware, the facility will primarily source milk and other raw materials from producers in the surrounding areas.

"Royal A-ware constantly seeks ways to expand its production capacity with future prospects in mind," the company stated. It also noted that the family-owned group is exploring the possibility of processing milk from local farmers directly at its site.

Royal A-ware produces cheese, butter, and yogurts for retail, foodservice, and industrial buyers. The company employs over 5,300 people, with revenue reaching €4.4 billion, or approximately $5.1 billion, in 2025.

Plans for the Belgian plant emerged after several deals announced by Royal A-ware during the year. In August, the group agreed to acquire Dutch LaBan Foods, a producer of private-label butter and owner of the Laban and LaViré brands.

In July, Royal A-ware acquired a 35% stake in Dutch goat cheese producer Amalthea from Ausnutria Dairy. Under the agreement, Royal A-ware will manage the marketing of Amalthea's products in domestic and international markets. In the same month, the group purchased Spanish-based Grupo TGT, a producer and distributor of cheese. The company's assets also expanded in February with the acquisition of Spanish distribution company Global Dairy Ventures.
