Russian Milk Production Continues to Rise, but Whole Milk Product Market Declines

From January to August 2025, milk production in Russia increased by 0.6% compared to the same period last year, reaching 4.08 million tons.
Consumption of drinking milk from January to July 2025 also showed growth, increasing by 1.4% to 3.67 million tons.
Meanwhile, stocks of drinking milk at dairy processing plants by early September 2025 showed a significant increase of 31%, amounting to 59.2 thousand tons.
The situation with the production of drinking cream was the opposite. From January to August 2025, its production decreased by 8.3% to 217.7 thousand tons. Cream consumption from January to July 2025 also decreased by 6.3%, amounting to 195.3 thousand tons. Stocks of drinking cream by early September increased by 37% to 8.2 thousand tons.
Overall, the production of all whole milk products from January to August 2025 slightly decreased by 0.3%, amounting to 8.08 million tons. However, the consumption of whole milk products from January to July 2025 showed a small increase of 0.3%, reaching 7.32 million tons.
