Recent Agricultural Sales Highlight Strong Demand in UK Markets

Recent agricultural auctions in the UK showcased significant demand across varied categories, with notable sales in sheepdogs, dairy cattle, and sheep. At the online Dolgellau dog sale, a 14-month-old sheepdog named Dot, bred by Dewi Jenkins in Ceredigion, fetched £16,300. This sale marked one of 11 dogs that sold for over £5,000, with two exceeding the £10,000 mark. Mynach Jet, another sheepdog, sold to a buyer in Belgium for £12,600.

Dairy Auctions

The Borderway dairy day saw top sales reaching £4,200 for a cow from the Davidson family's Errolston herd. This cow, in its third lactation, was noted for producing 45kg of milk and was acquired by Messrs Jackson from Dumfries. Other significant sales included a heifer from Alan McCamley which calved in May and was sold for a high price to Messrs Blezard from Preston.

Online Sheep Sales

Online sheep sales also registered strong figures, with two sales peaking at £8,100. One was a Castleisle shearling gimmer, part of the winning inter-breed pairs at Finn Valley Show, sold by A. Wilson to Messrs Doyle. Another gimmer, a Ballynacannon, was sold by D. Taylor to Messrs Delves and Co.

In addition, the sale of store lambs at Gisburn averaged £127, marking a £22 increase from the previous year. The top price was £176 for Beltex-sired lambs from A.J. Brown, indicating a positive market trend.

Additional Sales Highlights

Other notable sales included pedigree heifers at Gisburn peaking at £3,820 for Broholme Nashville Susie 2 from R.M. Shackleton. This heifer was part of a line known for high yield, with its dam producing 11,753kg in its third lactation.

Overall, these sales reflect a strong market environment across the UK agricultural sector, with high demand for quality livestock.
