Protein Innovations by Nestlé and Danone Lead Global Dairy Strategy
Protein consumption worldwide is on the rise, with companies like Nestlé, Pascual, and Danone leading the charge in innovation and product offerings. These brands are expanding beyond traditional animal and plant-based proteins to include new types that cater to changing consumer lifestyles, particularly among Generation Z.
Price sensitivity and budget constraints are influencing global food and beverage markets, impacting purchasing behaviors. Despite these factors, protein consumption remains a priority for many consumers. Danone and Pascual offer more affordable protein alternatives in this competitive market.
Innova Market Insights notes that over half of global consumers are increasing their protein intake, with a broader range of high-protein products entering the market. Animal-based proteins, alongside those from brands like Danone, Nestlé, and Pascual, are gaining traction, with plant-based launches becoming more frequent.
In Spain, approximately two-thirds of consumers have purchased plant-based products, with 40% doing so regularly, contributing to a market approaching 600 million euros. This shift reflects increased demand for diverse and sustainable food options.
Consumers increasingly believe that plant-based foods should not just substitute traditional options but exist as their own category, with less processing involved. This trend is pushing innovations like cultivated proteins and microbial proteins, which promise shorter production times and lower environmental impacts.
Nestlé, Danone, and Pascual continue to compete in the protein market, focusing on products that address nutrition, health, and wellness. These companies are introducing innovative offerings that enhance daily consumption and align with consumer expectations for quality, taste, and transparency.
