Butter Production in Russia Rises Despite Decline in Consumption
Meanwhile, the consumption trend was opposite. From January to November 2025, domestic demand for butter decreased by 6.7%, amounting to 383.5 thousand tons. Amid declining consumption, warehouse stocks of the product have significantly increased. As of early January 2026, butter reserves at dairy processing plants rose by 83%, reaching 30.5 thousand tons.
Analysts note that similar trends are observed in the alternative fats market. Margarine and spread production fell by 2.3% from January to December 2025, totaling 596.6 thousand tons.
Consumption in this product category also decreased, though less significantly. From January to November 2025, it dropped by 0.9%, totaling 394 thousand tons. Meanwhile, margarine and spread stocks sharply decreased — by 70%, down to 3.4 thousand tons at the beginning of 2026.
