Milk Production in Ukraine Decreased by 5.2% in 2025
The key factor in the overall decline was a sharp drop in production in household farms. In 2025, they produced 3.67 million tons of milk, 13.6% less than the previous year.
As a result, the share of household farms in the production structure reduced, yet it remains dominant at 53.5% of the total volume.
Amid the overall decline, agricultural enterprises showed positive dynamics. In 2025, they produced 3.19 million tons of milk, which is 7% higher than in 2024. The share of enterprises in raw milk production reached 46.5%.
According to Georgiy Kukhiashvili, an analyst at the Milk Producers Association, the industrial sector demonstrated one of the highest growth dynamics in the world, despite military risks, blackouts, and infrastructure destruction.
For comparison, in 2025, the growth in raw milk production in the industrial sector was:
-
USA — 2.3%;
-
New Zealand — 1.8%;
-
European Union — 1.2%.
