Ornua Announces Two Senior Leadership Appointments to Enhance Global Strategy

Ornua, the Irish dairy co-operative known for the Kerrygold brand, has announced two key appointments in its senior leadership team as part of implementing a new global operating model. Shane Henry has been named managing director of Ornua Dairy Ingredients, a newly established global business unit within the Ornua Group. This unit aims to maximize value from Irish dairy by consolidating member relations, services, dairy procurement, trading, and market routes into a single platform.

In his role, Henry will focus on developing strong and sustainable routes to market for Irish dairy products produced by Ornua’s member co-operatives. He will lead the commercial strategy for Ornua’s route-to-market operations, enhancing alignment with member co-operatives and driving the global performance of dairy ingredients businesses. His responsibilities include servicing customers across Europe, the UK, the US, and the Middle East and Africa (MEA) regions. Prior to this role, Henry was the managing director of Ornua’s route-to-market and member relations team, and he will report directly to CEO Conor Galvin.

Seán McHugh has been appointed as head of global manufacturing and operational excellence. Reporting to COO Jason Musk, McHugh is tasked with enhancing performance across Ornua’s global manufacturing sites and establishing a standardized operational excellence program. Previously, McHugh was the managing director of Ornua’s flagship butter production facility, Kerrygold Park, located in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork. He also led the brand’s innovation agenda as the global head of research and development.

Conor Galvin, CEO of Ornua, highlighted the importance of these appointments in executing the company’s new five-year growth strategy. This strategy is aimed at driving value for Ornua’s member co-operatives and Irish farming families while meeting global customer needs. Galvin praised both Henry and McHugh for their extensive experience within Ornua, spanning over 25 years, and their expertise in their respective fields.
