Irish dairy company Ornua, renowned for its Kerrygold butter, celebrated significant success at the prestigious International Cheese and Dairy Awards in Staffordshire, England. Competing against approximately 3,750 entries from around the globe, Ornua emerged victorious with 23 awards, including four major trophies.
The company's Vintage Cheddar, crafted by Tirlán at Ballyragget in Co. Kilkenny, earned the DSM Trophy for Best Single Vintage Creamery/Block Cheddar. In total, Ornua's accolades included six gold, six silver, and seven bronze awards, underscoring the quality and variety of Irish cheese and the expertise of Ornua's member co-ops. Among the celebrated products, the Pilgrims Choice cheddar brand won seven awards, comprising three golds, three silvers, and a bronze. It also clinched three major trophies for its Extra Mature Cheddar, including Reserve Champion Overseas, Champion Overseas Cheddar, and Best Irish Cheddar.
Ornua's innovative 'Inclusions' range was recognized in the Best Additive Cheese category, sweeping gold, silver, and bronze medals. Outside of cheeses, Ornua's flagship Kerrygold butter won five awards, with its Kerrygold Unsalted Butter taking a gold, while the ‘Sweet Spreadable’ range received two silver and two bronze in various categories.
