OMFED Increases Milk Prices by Rs 4 per Litre Across Odisha

The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation (OMFED) has raised the prices of milk by Rs 4 per litre across different variants. This change affects several categories including toned milk, which will now cost Rs 54 per litre, up fr om the previous Rs 50. Premium milk will now be priced at Rs 58 per litre, an increase from Rs 54.

Gold Premium Plus milk has seen a similar increase, with new prices set at Rs 64 per litre, previously Rs 60. Gold Premium milk has also been adjusted from Rs 56 to Rs 60 per litre. The uniform price hike indicates a broader pricing strategy by OMFED.

The reasons for the price increase were not explicitly detailed by the federation, although such changes are often attributed to rising procurement and transportation costs. The price revision is expected to affect household budgets significantly, particularly in urban and semi-urban regions wh ere packaged milk is a staple.

Further details regarding the implementation date of these new prices and consumer reactions are yet to be announced. The increase may also lead to a rise in the prices of milk-based products as a secondary effect.
