On the second day of the panel session of the Central Asian Dairy Congress, Azamat Khojanazarov, Deputy General Director of Olzha Agro Holding, presented the company's strategy for the development of milk processing and cheese production in Kazakhstan, writes DairyNews.today.
According to the expert, today the Sadchikovskoye enterprise produces about 25-30 tons of semi-hard cheeses per month. Earlier it was reported that in 2019, the company produced 1.9 thousand tons of milk per year, and the dairy shop processed up to 13 tons of milk and fermented milk products daily.
"The company's dairy products are produced under the Sadchikovskoye brand, which symbolizes the high quality and naturalness of products produced with care for the consumer," the holding stressed.
With the launch of the new plant, the company intends to completely redistribute the processed raw materials towards cheese making. "We plan that the volume of milk processing will go exclusively to cheeses. It is planned to produce from 60 to 100 tons of cheese per month," Khojanazarov said at the AqAltyn 2024 event.
According to the Deputy General Director, the company does not plan to promote the Sadchikovskoye brand in the markets of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan or China. It may be replaced by a new brand — Olzha Milk.
In preparation for the expansion, the company jointly with Nielsen conducted a study of the dairy market in Kazakhstan. It turned out that the volume of consumption of milk and dairy products in the country is 4.7 million tons per year, of which 3.07 million tons are provided by domestic production.
"This means that the import dependence is 1.7 million tons. We see this as not only a challenge, but also an opportunity. Kazakhstan's market is small — only 20 million people. At the same time, given the large land areas and complex logistics, the production of short—term products remains difficult," the speaker noted.
As Azamat Khojanazarov emphasized, Olzha Agro conducted a detailed analysis of dairy production in Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. Today, the company is at the design stage of a new milk processing plant with a processing capacity of 300 tons per day.
