Nestlé Invests $1 Billion in North American Expansion

Nestlé, the Swiss multinational food and beverage company, has announced a $1 billion investment to expand its production capabilities in North America, specifically targeting Mexico. This strategic investment aims to modernize and expand manufacturing facilities, strengthen local agricultural value chains, and support sustainable farming practices.

During a meeting involving Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and Nestlé CEO Philipp Navratil, the company reiterated its confidence in Mexico as a key growth market. Nestlé's North American expansion is part of a broader strategy following a similar $1 billion commitment made in January 2025, which highlighted Mexico as the firm's fourth-largest market and second-largest investment destination.

Central to these plans is the Nescafé Plan, an initiative designed to promote sustainable coffee farming. The program has already trained over 16,000 farmers, distributed upwards of 72 million seedlings, and provided agronomic assistance to more than 2,000 producers.

Nestlé Mexico CEO, Fausto Costa, emphasized the importance of this phase in reinforcing production capabilities and supporting Mexican agriculture. He stated, “We want to strengthen our production capabilities, support Mexican agriculture, and continue generating opportunities through an increasingly robust, competitive and sustainable value chain.”

This new investment highlights the growing importance of North America within Nestlé's global supply strategy, further indicating a potential trend among European food and beverage manufacturers to reassess their investment strategies to balance growth with supply chain security.
