Nestlé and UNESCO have launched a global initiative aimed at benefiting 500,000 people through skill development and sustainability projects.
Nestlé and UNESCO have joined forces to launch a new global initiative with a clear objective: to assist 500,000 individuals either directly or indirectly.
This ambitious program will provide grants to 100 teams of young social innovators who are set to enhance skills and develop solutions centered on regenerative agricultural practices, climate change mitigation, and sustainable packaging innovations.
The initiative is built on the success of a 2023 pilot in Latin America, which involved 20 young leaders impacting 130,000 community members. A notable project, Earth-IoT: Conectando el Campo, utilized digital tools to boost efficiency and sustainability in Mexican rural areas, resulting in a 50% increase in farmers' income projections, a 40% reduction in fertilizer usage, and a 30% decrease in water and energy consumption.
With the agriculture and food sector facing significant skills mismatches, this program aims to address these gaps. Young individuals are indicating less interest in agriculture, which is evolving with the increasing need to produce food sustainably, demanding new skills. Youth Impact: Because You Matter seeks to tackle these challenges and expand globally.
