Milk Purchasing Power in Uruguay Increases by 10% in February
The purchasing power of milk in Uruguay increased by 10% year-on-year in February, achieving the highest level since May 2024 according to the National Institute of Milk Producers (INALE). The price index for milk rose by 14.7% while the cost index showed a growth of 3.7%, indicating a stronger performance of milk prices over associated costs.

The INALE provides three key indicators to monitor the development of milk prices received at farms and the cost of production: the Milk Price Index, the Cost of Production Index, and the Purchasing Power Index. These measures provide objective insights into the income and expenses at the primary level and their evolution over time, using March 2024 as the base period for calculations.
