Mexico to Establish Milk Drying Plant in Michoacán by 2025

According to Leonel Cota Montaño, the Deputy Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER), a new milk drying plant is set to be established in Michoacán by 2025. This initiative is part of the National Fertilizer Program for Welfare and aims to bolster the dairy sector in the region.

The plant, which will be located in the municipality of Jiquilpan, will require substantial dairy resources to operate. The facility is anticipated to use 250,000 liters of milk daily, providing a significant boost to local dairy farmers.

Cota Montaño suggests that this development could greatly enhance services provided by LICONSA, a prominent supplier of government-subsidized milk in Mexico. This will cater to around 244,943 beneficiaries in Michoacán.

Currently, millions of Mexicans can purchase milk at a price substantially lower than the market rate thanks to LICONSA's service. The establishment of this plant is expected to further support this initiative, stabilizing the dairy supply chain and ensuring affordable access to milk for the citizens.
