Mexican Program Expands Fortified Milk Distribution in Guadalajara

On July 9, 2026, a collaborative effort between Leche para el Bienestar Jalisco and the ISSSTE took place in Guadalajara, aiming to improve food security and nutrition access. This interinstitutional affiliation drive took place at the Federal Palace's Medical Benefits Subdelegation, where a service module was set up to inform participants about the incorporation process and the biological value of fortified milk.

As a result of the event, 52 new families, encompassing 111 beneficiaries, were formally added to the program's distribution list. The event was attended by Luis Manuel Calderón Badillo, the sub-manager of Leche para el Bienestar Jalisco, Antonio Ceja Guerra, the ISSSTE's subdelegate of benefits, and Idelia Chávez Martínez, the district representative of the National Public Health Service.

The fortified milk distribution program is designed to address micronutrient deficiencies such as iron, zinc, and vitamins during developmental stages. By providing high-protein milk at subsidized prices, the program supports household economies and aims to prevent public health issues related to malnutrition.

This strategic integration of public health platforms with government dairy distribution schemes optimizes institutional coverage in urban centers like Guadalajara. Strengthening this distribution network ensures that domestically produced dairy proteins serve a direct social role, safeguarding the food security of vulnerable families in Jalisco.
