Mexican Milk Program Leche para el Bienestar Achieves 2025 Goal Early

The Mexican program Leche para el Bienestar, previously known as Liconsa, has exceeded its 2025 target by serving 7,122,760 beneficiaries across the country. This accomplishment was achieved ahead of schedule, reflecting significant growth in the distribution of fortified milk to socially vulnerable areas.

Managed by the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development, the program focuses on supporting communities with high vulnerability, providing nutritional aid to children, adolescents, the elderly, disabled individuals, and pregnant or breastfeeding women. This inclusive approach is a cornerstone of the initiative.

The infrastructure supporting this program involves numerous distribution points and dairies nationwide, ensuring access to milk at prices considerably lower than commercial market rates. The milestone of reaching 7 million beneficiaries was achieved in October 2025.

Looking ahead, authorities plan to expand coverage by 2030, aiming to serve 10 million people, marking an unprecedented expansion in Mexico's dairy social supply history.

For the international dairy community, these results highlight the scale of public policies in nutrition and supply, emphasizing the importance of integrating production and commercialization strategies to ensure a stable supply of fortified milk on a large scale.
