Mettler Toledo announces webinars on reducing dairy giveaway
Mettler Toledo’s series, titled Maximise Dairy Yield: Smart Product Inspection to Cut Giveaway and Boost Profits, will address the use of inspection systems in dairy manufacturing. The programme is structured as a three-stage sequence covering the production line, operational data and calibration requirements.
The opening session will focus on modern checkweighers and their use in managing fill levels. According to the company, the discussion will cover ways to limit giveaway—the amount of product supplied beyond the declared quantity—and increase the proportion of output that can be sold.
The second webinar will examine automated data capture. Mettler Toledo said manufacturers will be shown how to obtain secure, audit-ready information and use it for continuous improvement across their operations. The intended audience includes quality-assurance specialists, production managers, compliance officers and operations leaders, as well as staff responsible for weighing, inspection, line performance and audit preparation.
The final session will consider the effect of the new EURAMET Calibration Guideline 26, known as CG-26, on weighing practices in the industry. The series therefore links equipment performance with data management and calibration procedures rather than treating product inspection as a standalone line activity.
Each webinar can be booked separately. Two broadcasts will be provided during the series to accommodate participants in different regions. The programme is aimed primarily at dairy businesses, although Mettler Toledo said that its themes also apply to other high-volume food categories, including pet food, snacks and meat processing.
Frank Borrmann, market manager for checkweighing and vision at Mettler Toledo, said giveaway was “one of the most direct ways that margin can be lost on a production line”. He added that better data, more advanced inspection and dependable equipment performance could make a measurable difference. The series, he said, would explain how integrated inspection systems and calibration strategies support yield optimisation, compliance and long-term process control.
