Mariano Bosch Says Argentina Can Triple Milk Production
Mariano Bosch, co-founder of Adecoagro, said that Argentina’s dairy industry could multiply its milk output by three. His statement concerned the sector’s productive potential rather than a reported change in current production.
Bosch said that achieving this level would require the industry to gain greater industrial scale. The statement identified scale as one of the conditions for expanding Argentina’s dairy production.
He also referred to the need for Argentine dairy companies to compete in foreign markets. External-market competitiveness was presented as another condition connected with the possibility of a larger national milk supply.
Bosch further said that more of the milk produced should be processed into dairy products. The products he named were cheese, milk powder and whey proteins.
The comments therefore covered both the volume of milk available and the way that milk is processed. In Bosch’s account, increasing output and converting a larger share into those products are part of the same opportunity for Argentina’s dairy industry.
Bosch’s statement did not provide a production target in tonnes, a timetable for reaching three times the current output, or details of specific investments. It described the country as having the capacity to expand, subject to industrial scale, international competitiveness and broader processing into cheese, milk powder and whey proteins.
