March Sees Sharp Increase in Food Prices with Meat and Dairy Leading
March has brought a notable surge in food prices, with an overall increase of 2.4%, witnessed in the third week of the month.

The monthly average reached 3.2%, marking the largest rise in the past eight months, raising concerns about the continuity of the disinflation process hoped for by the government, which saw a 2.4% rise in February, surpassing January's 2.2%.

According to a weekly survey by LCG consultancy, significant price hikes have been noted specifically in beverages and infusions for home consumption (5%), sugar, honey, sweets and cocoa (4.2%), meat (3.5%), and dairy products and eggs (2.5%).

Over the past four weeks, a 3.2% increase was primarily driven by a 4.8% rise in meats and eggs. Dairy, sugar, and other food categories also exhibited varied levels of price changes, underscoring ongoing price volatility in the food sector.
