Malta Dairy Products Announces Price Increase Amid Rising Costs
Malta Dairy Products has announced an increase in prices for several of its fresh milk products, citing rising costs as the primary reason. The company explained that the adjustments are essential to maintain the quality and sustainability of the milk supply in Malta.
According to the announcement, the price of animal feed has increased across Europe, while costs for packaging and processing materials remain elevated. Transport costs have also continued to rise. As a result, the recommended retail price for 1000ml of whole milk will increase from €1.23 to €1.30, with similar increments applied to other products, such as skimmed and lactose-free milk.
Malta Dairy Products emphasized that the price changes are not influenced by energy costs but are driven by higher feed costs and elevated international prices for packaging and ingredients. The company is also making ongoing investments in laboratory testing and processing upgrades to ensure product freshness and safety.
In a statement, the company assured that product quality would remain unaffected by these price changes. A spokesperson noted, "Quality, freshness, and safety remain non-negotiable."
The company also noted its commitment to monitoring market conditions and ensuring that any future price adjustments will adhere to the principles of responsibility, transparency, and consumer protection.
