Liconsa Updates 152,000 Cards to Ensure Milk Supply in Puebla

The 'Leche para el Bienestar' program in Puebla, Mexico, has commenced its annual card exchange to maintain the social milk supply for more than 229,000 beneficiaries. This update involves the physical renewal of over 152,000 institutional cards, crucial for channeling nutritional subsidies to the registered citizens in Puebla.

This logistical procedure will be carried out in stages across various institutional sales points in the region. The authorities have urged beneficiaries to stay informed about specific schedules posted at service windows to complete this mandatory process.

The initiative reflects the structural growth of the distribution network over the past three years, under the leadership of Paola Ruiz García. Reports indicate that the number of active dairy outlets in Puebla has increased from 410 to over 520, enhancing coverage in both rural and urban areas with high vulnerability.

During this period, the number of beneficiaries has also significantly risen, from 184,000 to over 220,000, adding more than 36,000 new individuals to the program. Priority is given to single mothers, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, who gain access to quality nutrition through this program.

For dairy producers and industry analysts, the program's expansion highlights the importance of maintaining efficiency in modern dairy farms and ensuring biological safety from milking to production. Strengthening domestic dairy sources remains essential for supporting such programs and safeguarding the country's food sovereignty.
