Lerdo Launches Subsidized Milk Registration to Combat Inflation
The municipal government of Lerdo, part of the Región Lagunera in Mexico, has launched a series of mobile registration brigades to enroll eligible residents in the federal program 'Leche para el Bienestar'. This initiative is designed to alleviate the effects of inflation on the cost of essential food items by providing high-quality, heavily subsidized dairy products to vulnerable communities within the municipality.
The registration events are scheduled to take place from Wednesday, July 8, to Friday, July 10, 2026. They will be strategically located in both urban and rural areas of Lerdo, including key sites such as the shelters in Carlos Real and Nueva Rosita, the checkpoint at César G. Meraz, and the Municipal Health Maternity Clinic in Ampliación Las Flores. The services will be available in both morning and afternoon shifts.
The program specifically targets the most vulnerable segments of Lerdo's population. Eligibility criteria focus on children aged six months to 12 years, teenagers up to 17 years old, women aged 45 to 59, and seniors over 60. This ensures a direct distribution channel for essential nutrients to support family development.
To register, household heads must present valid official identification, proof of residence, and the CURP of each beneficiary. Additionally, pregnant women, nursing mothers, and applicants with disabilities or chronic illnesses are required to submit an official medical certificate from either public or private healthcare institutions.
The registration process is free of charge for families, reinforcing public policies that emphasize social protection and accessibility. These efforts aim to reduce daily expenses for vulnerable communities, ensuring access to high biological value dairy proteins in the marginalized areas of the Comarca Lagunera.
Overall, the initiative underscores Lerdo's commitment to social welfare by addressing inflation's impact on food security through targeted nutritional support.
