The monthly DHI Top Herds report ranks the top 100 Holstein herds and the top 10 high-component breeds herds based on Energy Corrected Milk (ECM).
To be included in the report, herds must meet the following criteria: a data collection rating of ≥ 90, a herd size of ≥ 25 cows, and enrollment in an official DHI test type with CentralStar. Koester Dairy Inc., located in Dakota, Illinois, leads the ranking with 410 cows. Additionally, the following farms made it into the top five: Shiloh Dairy, Greenleaf, Wisconsin; Weishaar Family Farm, Westfield, Wisconsin; Banner Ridge Farms LLC, Platteville, Wisconsin; and Tom & Sara Kruse, Dyersville, Iowa.
