Lactalis USA, a subsidiary of the world’s largest dairy company, Lactalis Group, has announced a $55 million investment to expand its Tulare, California facility, aiming to significantly ramp up U.S. production of Président® Feta cheese. This move comes in response to the increasing popularity of feta cheese among American consumers and establishes Lactalis’ largest feta production line in the country.

The expansion, involving a new 38,000-square-foot manufacturing line, will add capacity at both the Tulare and Belmont, Wisconsin facilities, creating 20 full-time jobs and up to 100 temporary positions during construction. Slated for full completion in 2027, the facility began partial operations in May of this year. Once fully operational, the expanded line will enable Lactalis USA to meet current and future demand for Président Feta.

Esteve Torrens, CEO of Lactalis USA, highlighted the investment as a commitment to community and market growth: “Expanding our cheese production capacity at Tulare supports our communities and reflects our long-term view for business success in the United States. This growth in Président Feta production is excellent news for our customers and consumers alike.”

Lactalis has deep roots in California, employing around 500 people across three locations. Its Tulare site is one of the company's most advanced, producing a variety of popular dairy products such as Kraft® Parmesan and Knudsen® Cottage Cheese and Sour Cream, alongside Président Feta. The Tulare expansion reflects Lactalis Group’s ongoing investment in cutting-edge technology and worker safety, including ergonomic design, automated air-flow control, and streamlined production processes.

With 11 manufacturing facilities across eight U.S. states, Lactalis USA is well-positioned to support demand across a wide range of dairy products, from cheeses to yogurts, under iconic brands like Galbani®, Breakstone’s®, and siggi’s®.
