Chanovsky aims to increase skimmed milk powder output by nearly 0.5 million kg

Chanovsky Butter Plant has joined the federal Labour Productivity project. Under the project, the company will work with the Novosibirsk Region's Regional Competence Centre to optimise skimmed milk powder production.

The Regional Competence Centre was established within the Novosibirsk Region Development Corporation. Its specialists will assess the production process, identify bottlenecks and prepare a plan for changes together with the plant's team.

According to the company, a major modernisation programme began at the plant in 2024. Production equipment was upgraded, and modern lines for pasteurised milk, sour cream and butter were commissioned. Some of the new lines are fully automated.

Skimmed milk powder production involves several processing stages. As the plant's executive director, Igor Portalo, explained, each stage affects the production cost of this highly processed product. He said process efficiency directly affects the company's financial performance, and participation in the federal project will enable it to work on improvements.

In 2025, the plant produced 6.7 million kg of skimmed milk powder. Its design capacity is 7.2 million kg per year, leaving a gap of nearly 0.5 million kg between actual and potential output.

Polina Kolenchenko, director of the Novosibirsk Region's Regional Competence Centre for Labour Productivity, said specialists would work with the company to identify bottlenecks and develop an optimisation plan. She also said they expected to reduce losses and bring actual output closer to design capacity.
