Kerry Dairy Ireland, a division of Kerry Group, officially opened its new Cheestrings facility in Charleville, Co. Cork, on Thursday, June 13. The expanded plant has increased production capacity by 50% and created 60 new jobs.
The investment, estimated at €30 million, is supported by Enterprise Ireland and the government’s capital investment scheme for the agri-food processing sector. Additionally, the development benefits from the EU Brexit Adjustment Reserve.
Kerry Dairy Ireland stated that this investment represents a significant commitment to the business and aligns with its ambitious growth plans for the Cheestrings brand. The company estimates that 17 Cheestrings are consumed every second globally.
The new facility not only increases capacity but also introduces new processing capabilities and efficiencies. Pat Murphy, CEO of Kerry Dairy Ireland, commented, "This investment in Charleville reflects our belief in Cheestrings and the bright future for the brand. As we cut the ribbon today, our commitment to quality, innovation, and community remains steadfast, and we look forward to Cheestrings' continued success and expansion."
Leo Clancy, CEO of Enterprise Ireland, praised the new facility, stating, "This state-of-the-art facility is a beacon of inspiration to other Irish food companies looking to innovate, and we wish Pat and the team every success in growing the Cheestrings brand both here in Ireland and overseas."
