In the first eight months, the Almaty Region attracted about 747 billion tenge in investments. According to the regional administration, this is 13.4% more than the same period last year. A total of 293 investment projects worth 7.1 trillion tenge are being implemented in the region.

This was discussed at the "Kazakhstan — Denmark" business forum held on October 1 in Qonaev. More than 100 representatives from government agencies, development institutions, investors, and companies from both countries participated. The areas of cooperation included logistics, water management, agro-industrial complex, pharmaceuticals, energy, and technology.

The region is creating 22 industrial zones covering a total area of about 9,000 hectares. Their combined investment portfolio is estimated at approximately 1 trillion tenge. Separately, the special economic zone "Alatau," spanning 98,000 hectares, is developing. According to Chingiz Arinov, the regional leader, the city of Alatau plans to simultaneously develop industry, logistics, modern technology, and business infrastructure.

In the region's agro-industrial complex, 44 projects with a total value exceeding 1.3 trillion tenge are being implemented. Authorities highlight deep processing of meat and milk, grains and oilseeds, fruits, and vegetables. Arinov stated that industrial sites and the agro-industrial complex form part of the region's investment portfolio.

A Carlsberg Kazakhstan non-alcoholic beverage plant has begun operations in the village of Boraldai. The investment in the facility amounts to $344 million, with a design capacity of up to 1 billion liters of products per year. The plant has created about 230 jobs, and the products are planned to be supplied to the Kazakhstan market and exported.

The cornerstone of the facility was laid in September 2025 in the Ili District. The plant occupies 17 hectares, and production is licensed by PepsiCo. Its launch was scheduled for 2026, and the company opened production in September 2026.

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen stated that developing relations with Central Asian countries, including Kazakhstan, is a significant direction for Denmark. "Our main goal is to implement investment projects, create new jobs, improve the professionalism of specialists, and develop mutually beneficial business. Successful economic cooperation depends not only on technology and capital but also on mutual trust. Therefore, we want even closer ties to form between Kazakhstan and Denmark," he said.

In April 2026, a Kazakh-Danish business round table was held in Copenhagen, featuring companies such as Carlsberg Group, Blue Water Shipping, Topsoe, Welltec, and others. The expansion of investments and the presence of Danish business in Kazakhstan were discussed. Following the meeting, KAZAKH INVEST signed a memorandum of cooperation with Denmark's largest business organizations.

The trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $19.7 million last year, increasing by 43.9%. The forum noted that this figure is lower than the cost of individual investment projects, including the Carlsberg Kazakhstan plant.
