Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) has issued a tender for the procurement of 65,000 metric tons of feed wheat and 25,000 tons of feed barley, as reported by Reuters.
This tender, part of Japan’s simultaneous buy and sell (SBS) auction system, will take place on October 16 and targets shipments scheduled for loading by January 31, 2025, with delivery expected by March 13.
Through SBS auctions, Japan enables end-users and importers to specify the origin, price, and quantity of feed grains, offering millers the flexibility to source precisely what they need. This system is designed to ensure that the nation's feed wheat and barley supply aligns with the specific requirements of its agricultural sector, particularly within the livestock industry.
