Speaking at the inauguration of the 32nd International Conference of Agricultural Economists (ICAE), held in India after a 65-year hiatus, Modi emphasized the country's commitment to sustainable agriculture, as highlighted in the Union Budget 2024-25.
Reflecting on India's progress since its last hosting of the ICE shortly after gaining independence, Modi noted the significant strides made in agriculture and food security. He proudly stated, "India is now a food surplus country," and highlighted that the nation leads the world in the production of milk, pulses, and spices.
