Grande Cheese Company, a renowned Italian cheese manufacturer, has initiated a significant expansion project at the recently acquired former Foremost Farms cheese plant in Chilton, Wisconsin. This strategic move is set to enhance its production capabilities considerably.
Last year, Grande announced the acquisition of the Chilton plant, marking a pivotal expansion of its manufacturing network. The current development includes a 60,000-square-foot addition and a renovation of 20,000 square feet of the existing infrastructure. Todd Koss, the CEO of Grande, highlighted the expansion as a crucial element in supporting the company's growth trajectory and its commitment to its community of producers, foodservice operators, and other stakeholders.
"The Chilton property is central to our strategy of nurturing a thriving business ecosystem for our Grande family, ensuring financial security and development opportunities for our associates and their families," Koss remarked.
The renovation and expansion efforts are projected to be completed by mid-2026. Once finished, the Chilton site will rank as Grande’s third largest facility, focusing primarily on the production of mozzarella cheese, a staple in pizzerias and restaurants.
Grande Cheese Company operates seven production facilities across Wisconsin, including locations in Brownsville, Fond du Lac, Friendship, Juda, Lomira, Rubicon, and Wyocena. Apart from its renowned cheese lines, Grande also produces specialty whey products that are distributed to various international food and beverage manufacturers.
