In an intensified pre-festive crackdown, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) uncovered extensive adulteration across dairies in Mathura and Aligarh districts between October 8 and 17.

Multiple dairies in Mathura’s Bajna area, including Rakesh, Bhura, and Vishnu Dairy, were found using harmful substances such as palmolein oil, skimmed milk powder, and chemical additives in paneer production.
The contaminated stock was destroyed, and licences were suspended. Ashok Godown, a source of adulterants, also faced action. Two food safety officers were suspended for failing to monitor operations effectively. In Aligarh, over 4,000 kg of adulterated milk and paneer were seized at Chaudhary Dairy, with lab reports confirming the presence of poster colours and whitening agents.
Sabana, Munna, and Shiv Dairies were shut for unhygienic practices, while Saurabh Agency saw the seizure of large quantities of adulterants. In total, FIRs were lodged against five units, and licences for ten establishments were suspended. Led by Commissioner Rekha S Chauhan, FSDA’s drive highlights serious lapses in food safety enforcement and calls for urgent reforms in dairy oversight.
