Fermanagh Farmers Celebrate Success in Silage and Dairy Competitions
The North Fermanagh UFU Group has celebrated the achievements of its members following recent successes in silage and dairy competitions. Raymond Johnston was awarded first place in the silage bale competition, while Gordon Elliott emerged as the winner in the dairy section. A spokesperson from the group highlighted these awards as a reflection of the hard work and high standards maintained by their members throughout the year.
The group also acknowledged the significance of their annual general meeting held earlier, which featured David Wright, the editor of the Irish Farmers Journal, as the guest speaker. His insights and experience were highly appreciated, contributing to what was described as a successful event.
In addition to celebrating the competition winners, the group extended congratulations to members who have recently assumed new roles within the organization. They expressed their commitment to continue strengthening the North Fermanagh Group and supporting the local farming community over the next two years.
Looking forward, the group has announced plans for a trip to North Wales and Chester in September. This excursion will include visits to several farms and agricultural businesses, offering members an opportunity to exchange ideas and learn from other professionals in the industry. The trip, costing £200 per person, will cover transfers, boat travel, hotel accommodation, and breakfast. Members are encouraged to contact the Enniskillen office to secure a place as spots are expected to fill quickly.
