Fennimore Farm Produces A2 Milk for Easier Digestion
In the heartland of America’s Dairyland, a small family-owned farm in Fennimore, Wisconsin is making strides to ensure everyone can enjoy milk and cheese without the associated stomach aches.
Cow’s milk typically contains A1 and A2 proteins, but for some, A1 can cause digestive issues. Lonnie Holthaus from Milkhaus Dairy reveals that their cows are bred to produce only the A2 protein, known to be gentler on the stomach.
‘Milk we drink today has a combination of both,’ Holthaus explains, adding that ‘the A2 protein alone is the one that people get along with really well.’ The initiative aims to reduce bloating and abdominal pain, often mistakenly attributed to lactose intolerance or dairy allergies.
