Fact Check: Bovaer’s Active Ingredient Not Detected in Dairy Products
Dairy producer Arla Foods has announced a groundbreaking initiative in collaboration with leading British supermarkets, set to commence on November 26. This joint venture aims to trial the rollout of Bovaer, a methane-reducing feed additive, across several dairy farms.
Despite concerns circulating on social media regarding the possible presence of Bovaer's active ingredient in consumer dairy products, rigorous testing has shown no detectable traces. Arla Foods ensures that the additive, produced by DSM-Firmenich, remains confined to its emission-reducing purpose in livestock feed.
Bovaer is a strategic product designed by DSM-Firmenich to cut down on methane emissions—a significant contributor to climate change per the United Nations. Currently, the additive is marketed in 68 countries, including the UK.
This strategic rollout by Arla Foods not only demonstrates a commitment to sustainability but also addresses the environmental impact of the dairy industry, allaying public concerns about product safety and integrity.
