Espinar Achieves International Standards with Dairy Plant

In Espinar, the local dairy plant, known as PLACME, has successfully renewed its international HACCP certification, maintaining product safety and quality until 2027. This accreditation, awarded by DIGESA, marks PLACME as the only plant in the Cusco region with such recognition, enhancing its reputation in the food sector.

The certification was achieved through a collaborative effort involving the Compañía Minera Antapaccay, which funded the process via the Convenio Marco de Espinar, and six farming communities providing over 2,400 liters of milk daily. Raúl Mamani, the plant manager, emphasized the integral role of healthy livestock in this achievement, ensuring high product standards from the very start.

PLACME's range of products, including fresh and matured cheeses, yogurt, butter, syrup, and pasteurized milk, is sold under the brand D’Altura. The recent revalidation followed a comprehensive five-day inspection of PLACME's entire production cycle by DIGESA in March.

This certification not only consolidates the current quality benchmarks but also paves the way for new market opportunities, underpinning a robust production chain built on the commitment of Espinar's agricultural community.
