Yogurt and Kefir Exports from Russia Reach Record $117 Million Since 2022

By the end of 2025, Russia increased its revenue from yogurt, kefir, and buttermilk exports to a record level over the past three years — more than $117 million. According to expert estimates, over 74,000 tons of yogurt, kefir, and buttermilk were exported from Russia in 2025.

In value terms, shipments grew by 15% compared to 2024. The achieved result became the highest for the entire observation period, surpassing the previous record of 2022, when export revenue amounted to about $114 million.

Kazakhstan remains the largest market for Russian fermented dairy products in monetary terms — around $39 million. Leading importers also include Belarus (more than $13 million), Tajikistan (about $12 million), Uzbekistan (over $10 million), and Azerbaijan (almost $9 million).

Meanwhile, in physical terms, the absolute maximum supply was recorded earlier — in 2021, when exports of yogurt, kefir, and buttermilk exceeded 87,000 tons. In subsequent years, the export structure shifted towards increasing added value and expanding presence in key regional markets.
