Brazilian cheesemaker Vaca Profana has created Divinas Tetas, a raw-milk cheese shaped like a breast for Pink October. A promotion pairing the cheese with a T-shirt costs R$180, with part of the proceeds going to the Instituto de Câncer de Mama.

Divinas Tetas is a small lactic cheese made by Queijaria Vaca Profana for Outubro Rosa, Brazil’s breast-cancer awareness campaign. Its rounded shape and raised tip are designed to resemble a breast, placing the product among the items on a cheese board associated with the campaign.

Producer Maristela Dalla Lasta said the idea reflects her own experience. She faced mastitis while breastfeeding her daughter, and that history became part of the language surrounding the cheese. “All breasts are sacred,” she says, referring also to women who wanted to breastfeed but could not, those who did not want to become mothers, those who removed implants and those who had to have their breasts removed.

The cheese was not developed from a conventional advertising brief, according to the account. Dalla Lasta is a former advertising professional whose career was severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2020, she founded Vaca Profana as an alternative source of income. The cheesery is now associated with AproQueijoPr, the Association of Cheese Producers of Paraná.

On the board, Divinas Tetas is made with raw milk and wild cultures. Its mould-covered rind has mushroom notes. The suggested pairings include white wine and cider. The producer also recommends lemongrass tea as an option for sharing among friends.

For Pink October, Vaca Profana is selling a package containing the cheese and an intentionally provocative T-shirt for R$180. Part of the revenue will be donated to the Instituto de Câncer de Mama. The product therefore combines the cheesery’s campaign merchandise with a stated donation to an organisation working in the breast-cancer field.

Dalla Lasta is described as one of Brazil’s more active independent cheese personalities on social media. Her work at Vaca Profana has also been presented as part of the experience of artisans who entered cheese production during difficult economic circumstances. The item was reported by Estadão in material produced by eDairyNews.
