The investment will focus on expanding Danone’s production capabilities in early-life nutrition and medical nutrition products, sectors where it is a global leader. The company currently sells its Protinex brand in India and sees significant growth potential in the country, especially given the rising demand fr om a growing middle-class and an aging population facing health challenges.

Danone’s CEO highlighted the potential for further growth in existing categories, such as early-life nutrition, wh ere penetration rates remain low. Despite exiting the dairy market in India in 2018, the company remains committed to expanding its footprint in other product segments.

Danone first entered the Indian market in the 1990s, but after exiting the beverage and fresh dairy segments, the company now focuses on nutrition, competing with global players like Nestlé and Abbott.

This investment is part of Danone’s broader "Renew Danone" strategy, which aims to strengthen its core categories and expand into new segments and geographies. With India’s rapidly growing population and middle class, the company sees a bright future for its nutrition products in the country.
