Danone's Strategy to Unveil 40 Innovative Products Annually
Pedro Schuler, Vice President of Danone in Spain, has asserted a clear intention to counter private label competition by emphasizing innovation with 40 new product launches annually. These products focus on health and sustainability, aligning with science-based solutions.

Schuler highlights the growth in value-added categories and innovations like Alpro’s plant-based alternatives, probiotics, and low-sugar protein products. With 12 million euros invested annually in Spain, bolstered by a global R&D ecosystem comprising 1,700 scientists, Danone is poised to lead in areas like microbiota health and specialized nutrition.

Despite market challenges, Danone strives for broad distribution by quickly responding to consumer trends. The company also offers affordable products, maintaining its strong presence in 75% of Spanish homes. In terms of acquisitions, Danone is exploring opportunities to complement its product portfolio, having experienced substantial profit growth of 129.4% globally and 348% in Spain, influenced by the 'Local First' restructuring project.
