Danone Launches Milk Academy to Enhance Global Dairy Supply Chain

Danone has announced the launch of its Milk Academy, a pioneering initiative aimed at enhancing the resilience, sustainability, and long-term viability of its worldwide dairy supply chain. This program is designed to equip farmers with cutting-edge knowledge, accredited training, and digital tools to transform dairy operations into agile, future-ready businesses capable of withstanding economic and environmental pressures.

The Milk Academy is structured around three international Centres of Excellence, supplemented by local training and a digital learning platform, offering scalable upskilling for farms of all sizes. The academy addresses crucial supply chain needs such as herd productivity, soil health, methane reduction, and regenerative agriculture, while also improving business fundamentals like succession planning and risk management.

The first Centre of Excellence was launched in Ohio this week, gathering 60 dairy farmers fr om nine countries alongside academic and technical partners. Future Centres are planned in Belgium and Morocco, focusing on mid-sized and smallholder farms respectively.

Through this investment in farmer capabilities, Danone is reinforcing its supply chain from the ground up to ensure consistency, quality, and sustainability across its dairy sourcing network. This initiative aligns with Danone’s broader Impact Journey, which aims to reduce emissions, improve productivity, and accelerate the shift to climate-positive agriculture.

Vikram Agarwal, Danone's Chief Operations Officer, stated, "Thriving farms mean a thriving supply chain. The Milk Academy is about building resilience wh ere it matters most—on the ground, with our farmer partners."
