Daniyar Zhakypov Breeds High-Value Swiss Cattle in Kadamzhai

Farmer Daniyar Zhakypov from Batken region is engaged in breeding Swiss cattle. His farm is located in the village of Kaltak in the Kadamzhai district, where he currently keeps 50 animals.

According to Zhakypov, he previously kept non-pedigree cows that provided around 5–6 liters of milk. The pedigree cattle, imported from Europe, yield up to 25-30 liters. The milk is supplied under contract to a processing company in Markaz.

The farmer mentioned that the animals require regular feeding and constant access to water. In summer, the cows stay in the sunlight, while in colder periods they are moved to a warm space. He stated that the cattle are not tied, allowing them to move freely.

The Swiss breed combines milk and meat productivity. Zhakypov noted the high fat content of the milk and reported that the meat yield from one cow can be between 550 and 600 kg. The price of one cow of this breed, he says, ranges from 350,000 to 500,000 soms.

The head of the Kadamzhai district agricultural development department, Abdygany Zholdoshov, stated that the number of large livestock farms in the area increased from three in 2023 to 16 currently. This year, 241 pedigree cattle were imported into the district, including 141 Aberdeen Angus cows for meat, 11 Ala-Too breed animals, and 70 Swiss cows.

The Swiss cattle originated in Switzerland's canton of Schwyz, from the local brown short-horned breed. The live weight of these cows is between 570–600 kg and bulls between 900–1000 kg. The breed is also used for breeding purposes; its milk is noted for high protein content, and the animals mature quickly with notable meat qualities.
