Dairy Queen Closes 24 Locations in Texas, Opens Online Auction for Restaurant Contents

Have you ever thought about owning a piece of Dairy Queen? It might seem like a distant dream, but it has become a reality for some enthusiasts. Recently, Dairy Queen announced the closure of 24 of its locations across Texas, including one in North Richland Hills, while its Dallas locations remain unaffected.

Following this unexpected shutdown, Dairy Queen has listed the complete contents of these locations on an online auction site. Enthusiasts and entrepreneurs alike now have the chance to bid on kitchen equipment, furniture, a walk-in freezer, and even the coveted ice cream machine. Notably, Coke machines, CO2 tanks, tea brewers, IT equipment, and ice machines are excluded from the auction.

Among the conditions of the auction, the winning bidder is required to remove the iconic DQ sign from the property, with all contents needing to be removed by February 28. Some of the bids are surprisingly low, starting at $410, sparking interest from communities and media alike. Dallas Observer writer Alyssa Fields even humorously considered a joint office purchase due to the attractive pricing.

Interested parties have until Thursday, February 20, at 12 p.m. to place their bids and join the fray as Dairy Queen undergoes this significant transformation in Texas.
