Dairy Production in Chile: A Mixed Start to 2025

Dairy production in Chile for January 2025 showed that 7 out of 11 categories increased their production volumes compared to 2023.

Dairy production in Chile kicked off 2025 with mixed results. According to data from the industry to the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa), as reported by the National Federation of Milk Producers (Fedeleche), 7 of the 11 categories recorded higher production volumes than the same period in 2023.
The national milk reception reached 214.5 million liters.
Cheese production, a key segment, rose by 11.8% compared to January 2024, using an additional 1.0 million kilos, increasing from 8.7 to 9.8 million kilos.
Milk powder production climbed by 1.6%, adding 132,000 kilos, rising from 8.0 to 8.1 million kilos. Yogurt saw a 4.3% rise, increasing from 17.5 to 18.2 million liters, while condensed milk production soared by 41.7%, using an extra 1.3 million kilos, going from 3.2 to 4.6 million kilos.
Butter production increased by 4.6%, with an additional 124,000 kilos, reaching 2.8 million kilos.
Cultured milk, which had seen a 7.0% drop in 2024, rebounded by 14.9%, increasing by 165,000 liters to 1.2 million liters. Conversely, fluid milk production decreased by 10.7%, with a reduction of 4.2 million liters to 35.6 million liters.
Cream production fell by 3.0%, losing 95,000 kilos to 3.0 million kilos, while powdered whey dropped by 17.7%, reducing by 372,000 kilos to 1.7 million kilos.
Finally, Quesillos production saw a 1.5% decline, dropping from 1.3 to 1.2 million kilos.
