Dairy exports grew 39% year-on-year in Uruguay

A report by Uruguay XXI highlights the strong growth in foreign sales and the consolidation of the United States as a key destination.

Dairy exports managed to rebound after the sector had to go through difficult times in relation to billing, as well as due to union problems. Thus, a 39% year-on-year increase in foreign placements was perceived during February, with the United States being one of the main actors.
According to Customs data, the total number of requests for export of dairy products in February was 19,500 tons, which represented 72 million dollars of billing for the sector. In this way, an increase of 39% was achieved compared to February of last year where 15 thousand tons of dairy products were exported, totaling 52 million dollars.
The difference was also in the average export value, which stood at 3,670 dollars per ton this year, while in the same period but in 2024 it was 3,370 dollars per ton.
