Sanitary Violations Exposed in Telangana Dairy Plant
On February 1, 2025, a state-level task force inspection at Shakti Milk and Milk Products in Raghunathpally Mandal, Jangaon district, Telangana, revealed severe compliance issues. The inspection, led by the Telangana Food Safety Commissioner, identified numerous infractions regarding sanitary measures.
The violations included mosquitoes and houseflies in stored ghee, a discovery of a dead lizard near food items, and obvious structural problems such as patchy roofing in cold storage areas. Inspectors also reported unsanitary conditions with spider webs on the roof.
Further issues were noted such as a lack of pest control records and water analysis reports, along with unclean, rusted equipment. Disorganized storage of raw materials and packaging errors were found on products. The absence of appropriate labelling led to the seizure of 1,700 kg of curd suspected of being substandard. Additionally, 720 kg of curd was discarded due to contamination and spoilage.
Public response on social media platforms was swift and critical, with citizens demanding stringent actions such as permanent factory closure or revocation of operating licenses. There was also a call for stricter enforcement from the government to prevent further public health risks.
