Colombian Dairy Market Dominated by Three Major Companies
In the Colombian dairy market, Colanta, Alpina, and Alquería have emerged as the dominant players. As per data from Euromonitor, Colanta leads with a 21.9% market share, followed by Alpina at 12% and Alquería at 10.6%. Together, these three companies control 44.5% of the market.
Other brands hold smaller shares, with Rama at 2.8%, Klim at 2.1%, and several others like Yogo Yogo, Parmalat, Alpinito, Bonyurt, Freskaleche, Nestlé, and Algarra each capturing between 1.2% to 1.6% of the market.
Rafael Álvarez, CEO of Alquería, highlighted the growth of the milk category within the company. From 2020 to 2025, the business expanded by approximately 60% as the company continued its strategy to establish itself as a consumer food company.
In terms of financial performance, Colanta reported revenues of nearly 4 trillion COP, while Alpina and Nestlé recorded 2.1 trillion COP and 2.04 trillion COP, respectively. Alquería's revenues reached 1.2 trillion COP, and Meals de Colombia reported 748.198 billion COP.
Despite evolving consumer habits and economic conditions, milk and dairy products remain significant in Colombian diets. The industry is expected to adapt to new consumer behaviors, with plant-based products gaining traction, especially among younger consumers.
