Cheese Production in Russia Exceeds 800,000 Tons

This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut at the Cheese Festival, which opened on August 5 in the Moscow Region village of Dubrovskoye.
The festival began on the eve of the introduction of the Russian food embargo. August 6 marks exactly 10 years since Russia banned the import of products fr om several countries, including EU member states.
During this period, cheese production in the country has almost doubled, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
As Oksana Lut noted, "Many farm cheese dairies have appeared – today there are more than a thousand producers across the country, and each region has its own unique products. The next task is to develop the brand of Russian cheese in the global market, wh ere it can find its niche and successfully compete with many well-known brands".
